CA 1 Tape Management System

Course will introduce participants to CA 1, Tape Management System (TMS). Purpose of CA 1 is explained, and its major functions are reviewed. The participants will learn:
  • The special CA 1 tape EXPDT/RETPD criteria.
  • CA 1 operations.
  • CA 1 label processing.
  • Online facilities for Tape Management Catalog (TMC) inquiry and update.
  • Daily maintenance and reporting.
  • Report programs and utilities.
  • Miscellaneous special facilities.
  • The Vault Management System.

  • Prerequisites—Basic MVS JCL, or equivalent experience
    AUDIENCE Technical Support management and staff, and Computer Operations management. If a non technical introduction to CA 1 is required for programmers, operators, or tape librarians, this can be accomplished by attending either:
