AUDIENCE CICS Application Programmers who have completed a basic CICS course and have some practical experience in coding CICS
GOALS
  • Understand the use of the GETMAIN and FREEMAIN commands
  • Understand the use and limitations of the user available storage areas within CICS
  • Know how to use the CICS supplied transactions to aid in the development and testing of CICS application programs
  • Access data outside the program using the COBOL linkage section
  • Understand the use of the START and RETRIEVE commands
  • Know how to deal with exceptional conditions using the RESP option on commands.
