C Programming-Intro

This course introduces attendees to the 'C' programming language. 'C' is a powerful, high-level language, which is fast becoming popular on all major hardware systems. Course materials include the following: Introduction to C Programming Student Guide and course notes, The New C Primer Plus (by Mitchell Waite, Stephen Prata, and Donald Martin) and a diskette containing example C programs used in class.
AUDIENCE Participants should be knowledgeable of another high-level programming language such as COBOL, Pascal or Fortran.
GOALS Design, code, compile, execute and debug C language programs using the following:
  • C language variables, expressions, and statements
  • control statements (if, while, for, do-while, and switch-case)
  • functions
  • preprocessor directives
  • file open, read, write and close operations
  • arrays and strings
  • pointers
